Nine ways of seeing the world

Each type is a pattern of attention: a core desire you move toward and a core fear you organise around. Everyone has some of all nine — your type is the one that drives the rest.

The Reformer

Principled, purposeful, quietly exacting.

Ones carry a clear inner sense of how things ought to be and feel responsible for closing the gap. At their best they are fair, ethical and steady; under strain the inner critic gets loud and patience runs thin.

Core desire
To be good, balanced and live with integrity.
Core fear
Being corrupt, defective or fundamentally wrong.

Three centres of intelligence

The nine types group into threes by where they first process experience. Your tritype takes the strongest type from each centre.

Gut

Instinct · autonomy · anger

Gut types meet the world through the body and instinct. Their central question is control: how much to assert, resist or hold back.

Heart

Feeling · image · shame

Heart types orient around identity and connection. Their central question is worth: how they are seen, valued and understood by others.

Head

Thinking · security · fear

Head types process life through the mind. Their central question is safety: how to find enough certainty, support or freedom to move forward.

How it works

  1. Answer one statement at a time

40 statements, each rated from Strongly disagree to Strongly agree. Go with your first instinct — how you usually are, not how you would like to be.

  2. Every type is scored on its own

Each type has its own set of statements, scored out of 100. Your highest score points to your core type; the stronger neighbour suggests your wing; the top type in each centre forms your tritype.

  3. Read your result, then go deeper if you want
